Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville 2022

Retail: $170.00 | Wine Club: $136.00
VINTAGE NOTES
Significant rain in December and relatively dry, mild conditions through March created an early bud break. Alternating periods of warm and cool weather after March led to steady summer conditions that prevailed until the first week of September when temperatures rose significantly. Cooler weather after the heat spell allowed many of our hillside and south valley vineyards to recover from the heat and were harvested in great condition. Overall quality is excellent with wines showing a broad spectrum of aromas and flavors.
VINEYARD SOURCES
Originally a water refueling stop for the railroad that connected Vallejo to Calistoga, Oakville was named for its dense groves of valley oaks. Situated in the heart of Napa Valley, Oakville has an ideal combination of warm days and cool evenings. The deep, rich soils on the west side near Highway 29 give way to rockier, volcanic soils on the east side near Silverado Trail. In 2022, we used grapes from some of our top vineyards primarily on the eastern side of Oakville AVA.
WINEMAKER NOTES
The 2022 vintage is a blend of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Petit Verdot, 7% Cabernet Franc and 1% Malbec. This wine was 50% barrel fermented in 50% new French oak barriques and 50% in stainless steel tanks and then aged for eighteen months in 35% new French oak barriques.
NOSE: A mix of dark cherry, plum and cassis fruit aromas are accented by notes of purple flowers, dusty earth and vanilla pod.
PALATE: Medium bodied flavors of red cherry, cranberry and cassis mix with touches of leather, roasted nuts and anise.
