VINTAGE NOTES
Late winter rains followed by ideal spring growing conditions set the stage for the 2021 vintage. Mild temperatures punctuated this drought year with only a few heat spikes during the summer months that led to early ripening and allowed us to harvest some early blocks with incredible old-world charm and intriguing complexity. Grapes that were harvested later benefited from the longer hang time and ripened perfectly, displaying great depth with distinct regional character. The ideal weather of 2021, coupled with lower yields, produced wines that offer intense aromatics and flavors with excellent aging potential.

ABOUT THE WINE
ERA will always be the first red wine we make in a vintage, as each vineyard lot arrives at the winery, it is eligible to become a part of ERA, but only the finest lots are selected by our winemakers from the incredible collection of high-quality vineyards we work with. Given the unique climate characteristics each year, the list of vineyards does change, empowering us to find the perfect combination of vineyards that vividly express the vintage. A true expression of Napa Valley, the 2021 vintage features grapes from some of the very best vineyards we farm in the Oakville, Yountville, St. Helena and Mount Veeder appellations.

WINEMAKING
The 2021 ERA is comprised of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Cabernet Franc, 3% Petit Verdot, 2% Merlot and 2% Malbec. Fermentation took place in 100% French oak 50% new and 50% one-year-old barriques, followed by 18 months of aging in the same
barrel composition.

NOSE: A complex combination of red currant, blackberry and black cherry fruits mixed with anise, sweet roasted espresso bean, sponge toffee, graphite and violets.
PALATE: A broad, rich entry of palate coating, layered dark cherry and blackberry fruits, accented by notes of lavender, caramel cream and dark earth that leads to a long, firm, flavorful finish.
