Single Vineyard Wines

Alpha Omega farms a select group of single vineyards that include some of the most sought after and historic vineyards in the Napa Valley. Produced in small quantities, each of these wines make a distinctive, dramatic statement of grape and place.

Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

Widely regarded as the most famous vineyard in the Napa Valley, To Kalon Vineyard’s colorful history dates to the late 1860s when it was first planted by viticulturist Hamilton Crabb who had purchased the vineyard from George Yount’s son-in-law, E.L. Sullivan. To Kalon Vineyard is situated on a large alluvial fan in the heart of the Oakville AVA. Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard (historically known as Beaulieu Vineyard #4) is situated in the southern portion of the original To Kalon Vineyard. To Kalon, Greek for “the place of highest beauty,” is an appropriate description for a vineyard that consistently produces some of the most striking, layered and ageable wines in Napa Valley.

Beckstoffer Vineyard Georges III Cabernet Sauvignon

In 1928, Georges de Latour, owner of Beaulieu Vineyard purchased 250 acres of a vineyard originally planted by Elizabeth and Thomas Rutherford in 1895 and called it Beaulieu Vineyard #3. The vineyard quickly became a favorite of legendary Beaulieu Winemaker André Tchelistcheff and a key component of BV Private Reserve. One of Andy Beckstoffer’s original acquisitions, he bought the vineyard in 1988 and renamed it Georges III after George de Latour. Located on the east side of Rutherford AVA near the Silverado Trail, Georges III is planted exclusively to Cabernet Sauvignon. The fertile, well drained soils and warm afternoon temperatures provide an ideal environment for this renowned valley floor vineyard.

Paratus Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

Paratus, a Latin term for “always prepared” is a hidden gem tucked away in the southern part of Mount Veeder AVA and only a stone’s throw from the famed Mayacamas Winery.   Originally planted as a twelve-acre Chardonnay vineyard by Chandon Winery in 1981, Paratus was transformed in 2001 into a hand tended, dry farmed, Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard that follows many of the same organic farming protocols as Alpha Omega.  Perched at 1,500 feet with steep terraces, and rich volcanic, seabed soils, the vines here produce low yields of intensely flavored, concentrated grapes. An exciting, new addition to the Single Vineyard portfolio.

Drew Block Stricker Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

Stricker Vineyard (formerly known as Drew Vineyard) traces its lineage back to George Drew, who originally purchased the property in 1889 from the U.S. government. Renowned architect Larry Stricker acquired the property in 1986 and developed a 17-acre vineyard before selling it to Alpha Omega in 2015. At altitudes of 1,000 to 1,500 feet, this dramatic terraced vineyard in the Mount Veeder AVA boasts steep inclines and rocky, well drained soils surrounded by tall redwoods which provide morning and afternoon shade and overall cooler temperatures. As a homage to George Drew, Alpha Omega fermented and bottled separately a small block of the original vineyard planted in the 1990s.

Sacrashe Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

The name "Sacrashe" was created by combining the first three letters of the surnames of Lev Sacre, John Craig and Dave Sherwin, three fraternity brothers at University of California, Berkeley and Navy mates who originally developed the 32-acre vineyard in 1981. Surrounded by native pine, manzanita and oak in the heart of the Vaca Range, Sacrashe sits above the acclaimed Auberge du Soleil resort at 800 feet in the Vaca Mountains on the eastern edge of the Rutherford AVA. Sacrashe Vineyard is famous for its rocky soil and large bands of dusty, volcanic ash that dominate the gentle, rolling landscape of this vineyard. The Vaca Mountain soils, coupled with higher altitudes and warm afternoon sun, produce low yields of ripe, richly flavored grapes.

Part of the Alpha Omega family since 2006, we have always been blown away by Sunshine Valley Vineyard’s complexity and structure. Hudson Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc

A shining star in the Carneros AVA, Hudson Vineyards is almost exactly halfway between Sonoma and Napa on Highway 121 and named after celebrated grape grower Lee Hudson, who purchased the 2,000 acre-property in 1981. Hudson Vineyards partially overlaps the historic Talcoa Vineyards, one of Napa’s most famous vineyards in the late 1880s and whose Indian name roughly translates to “laughing land,” a testament to the daily winds from nearby San Pablo Bay. Punctuated by rolling hills and shallow, rocky soils, Lee’s understanding of the intricate combinations of soil, climate, rootstock and clone in each vineyard block produce grapes sold to a who’s who list of California’s top winemakers.

Toyon Vineyard Chardonnay

Toyon Vineyard is a rarity in Carneros in that it has slopes. Much of the sprawling Carneros AVA is flat along the San Pablo Bay, but a special 10-acre parcel tucked back against the forest is its own little hillside cru. Neighboring Larry Hyde's esteemed vineyard, our Toyon estate vines are nearing 25-years old, the "sweet spot" for winemakers balancing a vine's energy and maturity. It's always one of our favorite sites for consistently stunning Chardonnay fruit.

Stricker Vineyard Chardonnay

One of the reasons we first learned of the Stricker property was the reputation of its Chardonnay vines. The proprietor had a small label, but farming exceptional fruit in the rocky soils of Mt. Veeder was clearly his passion. Having purchased grapes for a number of years, we recently acquired the Stricker Vineyard for Alpha Omega; such is our belief in its ultimate potential. Our ongoing replant of the property is being guided by our team’s vision that it will stand among Napa Valley’s elite hillside Chardonnay Crus.
