The dynamite required to blast planting holes into Cordes speaks to its terrain atop Napa Valley’s eastern flank. It’s a lunar rock field masquerading as a vineyard, the grapes raised there reflect the struggle of their birthplace with characteristic hillside structure and depth. Deeply colored and intensely concentrated, it’s a broad-shouldered and compelling Cabernet with only 250 cases produced.
